How does the City of Orléans inform travelers about occupancy rates?

How does the City of Orléans inform travelers about occupancy rates?

Key elements of the use case

How to predict crowds in vehicles accurately and rigorously? The programming interface (API) that we have developed, Occupancy API, is easy to integrate, and improves the passenger experience and regulates attendance in public transport.

Challenge

The Covid-19 pandemic has reduced the attractiveness of public transport, with citizens fearing closed and saturated spaces. Most transport networks have not returned to their pre-crisis ridership levels.

To remedy this, the city of Orléans is working with Citio to predict on-board crowds, communicate the predictions to travelers via the TAO mobile application, and better distribute the load in the vehicles; and this in particular thanks to Occupancy API.

Testimony

“With Occupancy API, travelers can now know how busy the next trips will be. Thanks to its precision during predictions, users are gaining more and more confidence in our network. The API information is integrated into our TAO Orléans application, it responds to a strong demand, since the health crisis, to be able to choose vehicles with less crowds.”
